Now that the obligatory link is finished, a story for you. So I am at work today. Work is calling shareholders of mutual funds and trying to get them to issue proxy votes over the phone. Work is not thrilling, but the money is actually fairly decent, there's a constant demand for overtime, and it'll let me go to film school in six months. So a woman is complaining endlessly (and remember, this is essentially customer service, so you smile and grit your teeth and speak pleasantly and take the abuse), and she starts bleating, "I can't vote! I don't know the issues! I can't vote for the board when I don't know the issues!" And it just spills out of me: "Well, how about you vote on their personalities?" If she hadn't laughed, I'd likely be out of work right now.
